POWERED BY OUR PEOPLE
CFI is proud to be the General Contractor for Rensselaer County making improvements to its wastewater treatment plant’s aeration system. This nearly $9M project that is funded by NYS EFC will utilize existing plant capacity to store combined sewer overflow, rather than bypassing treatment and will ultimately improve the water quality of the Hudson River. CFI safely performed demolition of the existing mechanical aerators in 3 aeration basins for a complete rehabilitation that included all new bubble diffusers and low pressure air piping; construction of a new masonry blower building; installation of 3 turbo blowers with all new stainless piping and valving; replacement of numerous stainless steel slide gates; installation of drainage systems in all 4 aeration trains; demolition of 5 existing RAS pumps; installation of 3 horizontal centrifugal RAS pumps with associated valving, fittings and VFD’s; replacement of 4 existing sump pumps in the return Sludge Pump Station and the Primary Gallery; installation of a heated recirculation loop at the blended waste tanks; rehabilitation of the existing gravity belt thickener; and other miscellaneous improvements to the solids handling building and on site.
